After many months of backwards and forwards between our Kitchen Designers and us, we’ve finally landed on a set of designs that make us smile. It’s not just the kitchen they’re looking after. They’re also in charge of the laundry, walk-in wardrobe and infamous ‘shelf’. Below are a few previews of what we have planned. And yes… that is bright orange cupboards you see.

We don’t really cook much. In fact, the most time we spend in this room is on a Friday night for the ‘Friday Night Kitchen Party’ (Spotify Playlist available). So we don’t need it to be huge.

But we do need it to have orange doors. Resene Clockwork Orange to be precise. We had a few ‘chin scratch’ moments over the layout, but when the kitchen team told us the design was a bit ‘awkward… just like it was in the ’70s’ we knew we’d nailed it.

One of my fave rooms in the house – where things get cleaned. We’ve kept things pretty simple here. Heaps of storage on the left and all the functional stuff on the right. Tile choices and colour schemes still to be made but all in good time.

Notice the large section at the back of this room? Yep. Shoes. Lots and lots of shoes. No idea where Shane is planning to put his.

The shelf went through a whole heap of variations, with careful measurements for each and every book, DVD, magazine and vinyl. We’ll have power in the bottom cupboards for all the usual TV stuff. And an open section so you can see through to the view from the hallway. Can’t wait for this to go up. It’s been a two-year project on its own.
