The Final Countdown

With under a month to go, it’s all getting a bit frantic. And a lot stressful. It’s a little like being a contestant on one of those makeover shows where each room is crammed with tradies and every one of them needs something from you. Whether it’s a decision or information or just more cash (if we hear the word ‘variation’ one more time…). On the positive side, fantastic to see all the elements finally coming together and bringing to life our little 3D home.

The wallpaper is up, the paint is on and the tradies are busier than ever. From the kitchen team to the tiler (plus dog – new best friend), to the electrician and everyone in between.

Shout out to the team at Kitchen and Interior Co, who this week have been installing not just the kitchen, but also the laundry and walk in wardrobe. I might just make the wardrobe my office and live happily ever after.

Both bathrooms are coming along nicely and all previous choices are looking good. Especially loving the bi-fold doors – providing some unusually aquatic indoor, outdoor flow. We also had a last minute change of grout colour, opting for bright orange, as you do. Everyone cross everything for that one.

The water tanks went in this week and with them came the question of how to disguise these ‘almost buried’ giants. Bury them more? Or make a feature out of them? All ideas most welcomed.

Shane’s second home has finally sprung out of the ground. With room enough for the whole of the extended family (of the automotive kind) we may not see much of him going forward. Although I suspect dusting the massive shelf will keep me busy enough for the foreseeable future…

So what’s next? The flooring is due to go in next week – vinyl and carpet, which means we’re almost done. And the final part of the puzzle? Where it all began and the ‘pièce de résistance’…

…the shelf.
